Testing your Punjabi typing speed
Punjabi is written in the Gurmukhi script, whose marks combine with base letters into single written units — so one keystroke is not one character on screen.
Frequency beats duration in Punjabi by a wider margin than in most languages, because what you are building is a composing order and composing orders decay quickly between sessions. Ten minutes daily will take you further than an hour on Sunday.
Typing Punjabi is not a matter of one key, one character. The Gurmukhi script combines consonants, vowel signs and modifiers into single written clusters, which means you compose a syllable and watch it assemble itself as you go. Punjabi in India is written in Gurmukhi, the script these lessons teach, which was standardised in the sixteenth century by Guru Angad and is used for Sikh scripture. In Pakistan, Punjabi is written in Shahmukhi, an Arabic-derived script.
The two are not mutually readable, which means the largest language in Pakistan and one of the largest in India share a name, a grammar and very little written text. Conversion tools exist and are imperfect, particularly because Shahmukhi does not mark vowels as fully as Gurmukhi does.
Punjabi is tonal, which is unusual for an Indo-Aryan language. Gurmukhi marks the tones through particular consonant letters rather than with diacritics, so the tone is carried by spelling.

What is the difference between raw and net WPM?
Raw counts everything you typed; net subtracts what you got wrong and left wrong. A large gap between the two is the most useful signal on the results screen — it means the speed is there and the accuracy is not, which is a different problem from simply being slow, and a faster one to fix.
Does accuracy matter more than speed?
For a score, they are the same measurement — net WPM already penalises errors. For improving, accuracy matters more, because the fastest route to a higher number is almost always removing mistakes rather than moving your fingers faster.
